Lymphocytes
Lymphocytes are small white blood cells that play an important role in the solution of problems of the control of foreign invaders. Two main types of
lymphocytes, which are important in the defense against pathogens of diseases of parodont b-lymphocytes (B cells) and t-lymphocytes (t-cells).
And B-Lymphocytes
1. Description
a. B-lymphocytes are small white blood cells that help in the defense against bacteria, viruses and fungi.
B. B-lymphocytes in the future can become one of two types of cells Into plasma cells and memory cells.
c. The main functions of b-lymphocytes to produce antibodies. Once In the cell has been activated, it produces millions of antibodies and pours them into the bloodstream (Fig. 8-6).
2. Antibodies
a. Antibodies Y-shaped proteins. One end of the Y links externally In the cell. The other end is tied to the organism and helps to kill him.
B. Antibodies called immunoglobulins. Five major classes of immunoglobulins immunoglobulin m (IgM), immunoglobulin D (IgD), immunoglobulin G (IgG), immunoglobulin a (IgA), and immunoglobulin E (IgE).
c. Antibodies to participate in host defense in three main directions:
1) neutralize bacteria and bacterial toxins, in order to prevent the destruction of bacteria in the host's cells.
2) the layer of bacteria, making them more susceptible to phagocytosis.
3) activation of the complement system...
