Exacerbation of chronic periodontitis and periostitis
Exacerbation of
chronic periodontitis occurs during treatment: being removed from the root canal, decay products of root pulp get into the periodontium. Exacerbation of chronic periodontitis can be also provoked by irritation that is caused by using aggressive medicines for antiseptic treatment of root canal. On the other hand, exacerbation of chronic periodontitis is often caused by various traumas that occur while
filling the root canal.
There are some diseases that promote exacerbation. These diseases are chronic granulomatous, fibrous, and granulating periodontitis. Peculiarities of chronic inflammation are defined by the peculiarities of the developing exacerbation.
It is quite natural that pathogenesis of exacerbated and chronic periodontitis are different. The thing is that human organism can react to the same factors (medicines, for example) in a number of different ways leading to absolutely different consequences.
How to treat exacerbation of chronic periodontitis?
It is necessary to pay special attention to treatment of children with odontogenous inflammation.
One important factor is to be taken into account if the inflammation process is acute or exacerbated, it is necessary to turn to dentist. Moreover, it is important that the process of treatment must be complete and painless.
It is important to eliminate pain completely, but without violence. Nowadays there is a variety of pain relievers and sedatives used for this purpose. Young school-age children must be carefully prepared to anesthesia. It is important because children are more likely to have allergy to anesthesia.
Other patients can be treated with a complex of sedatives (like Trioxazin or Andaxin) and local anesthesia with Articaine, Lidocaine, or similar medicines. Treatment of acute or chronic periodontitis of the child`s temporary teeth is a serious thing to do. First of all it is necessary to decide whether you want to preserve the tooth. This question becomes especially urgent in cases when operative treatment is contraindicated. There are some factors that are to be taken into account before the dentist starts treatment. These factors include inflammation pattern, influence of inflammation on permanent tooth germ, degree and type of resorption of roots of the tooth. Your child will have to undergo an X-Ray examination. It is done for the dentist to understand the course of the disease in a better way.
It is a well-known fact that successful treatment is a result of cooperation of doctor and patient. Moreover, any treatment must be prescribed taking peculiarities of the child`s organism as well as effectiveness of the selected method of treatment into account. That is why dentist must have all necessary information about the child`s body reactions (phagocytic activity of neutrophils, electrophoretic examination of blood serum proteins, and other specific data).
Changes in monocytogammas, phagocytic activity of neutrophils, and complementary activity of blood serum can signalize abnormalities of the child`s immune system. This, in turn, can predetermine the course of the disease. Weak organism is generally less able to fight any diseases. Dental diseases are not an exception.
