What should one know about prostheses on telescopic crowns
Telescopic crowns are a kind of detachable dental prosthesis. In this case the prosthesis is fixed on teeth with the help of a crown. The crown consists of 2 parts. The upper part is a crown made of ceramic metal. It performs an aesthetic function. The bottom part adjusted to the jawbone is a metal cap with even sides. The whole system can be compared with a television antenna. When squeezed, the crown is firmly pressed to the metal cap and it secures perfect fixation.
It is possible to make detachable frameworks using the same technology. Such detachable devices are used in cases when there is no need to make huge detachable prostheses and rigid attachment of nondetachable framework is contraindicated.
