In cases when conservative treatment is not enough or there is a relapse of the disease, operative intervention is the only possible way out. However, there are cases when even operative intervention is contraindicated. In case of multiple labial fissures the choice of treatment must be a very thought-over one.

In order to prevent relapses of the disease it is recommended to use cosmetic moisturizers, give up smoking and other bad habits. Sometimes medicamental treatment may be added to the list of recommendations.
